Chicago Small Fry team wins the 2015 Small Fry Paradise Showdown
The Marquette Best youth basketball team out of Chicago won the 2015 Small Fry Paradise Showdown. The team toppled Positive Guidance of St. Croix 47-45 on Sunday morning to wrap up the title. Nick Owns scored 14 points for best in the finals. Darryl Thornton and Amir Matthew added eight points apiece. Rayjon ali scored 18 points, Kmani Bruce had eight points for Positive Guidance. DeMarco Minor earned tournament MVP Honors for Marquette Best, which finished 4-0 at the tournament.
Ahijaa Sweeney of Positive Guidance earned the Sportsmanship award. The tournament was hosted by the VI Jaguars and Caribbean Rose, Inc. After losing to Positive Guidance on Friday, the Jaguars exacted revenge on their V.I. counterparts on Sunday, winning 37-17. Jahsief Benjamin scored 15 points and Jourdyn Rawlins had nine in the rematch. Marquette topped the Jaguars 40-34 in Saturday's featured game. Minors and Carion Weathers scored 14 points apiece in that one.
For the Jaguars, Deshamoi Greaves had 12 points to lead the way. In Friday's 37-31 Positive Guidance win over the Jaguars, Jahmai Jones had 13 points to lead the way. Ali Scored 13 points Saturday in a 53-32 win over Tortola. The other teams to compete over the weekend were Bertha C. Boschulte and Tortola.

Chicago Small Fry team wins the 2016 Small Fry Paradise Showdown
3/21/2016: The Paradise Showdown's defending champs, Chicago Marquette Best, once again took First Place, remaining undefeated in the six-team round robin event held this weekend at Ivanna Eudora Kean. The Virgin Island Jaguars took Second Place. Other teams included St. Croix Positive Guidance, and Toa Baja, Caguas Libac, and CIAPR from Puerto Rico. The Jaguars commanded the boards, and applied a staunch defense, to best Puerto Rico's highest ranked team, Toa Baja. Forced turnovers by Chicago's Best and hot three-point shooting contributed to Chicago's victory over the Jaguars to give them the championship. Chicago was led by Nick Owens' command of the floor, assists, and scoring, and he was named the tournament's MVP. The Jaguars had a strong effort from JahFari Samuel and DeShamoi Greaves in both scoring and rebounding. K'hamani Olivacce and Nekwante Sprauve broke down opposing defenses with their passing and penetration to help the Jaguars take second.
