After a one-day delay due to weather conditions resulting from Tropical Storm Bertha, this year's Virgin Island Billfish Tournament for Haiti was a one-day shoot-out. We had ten boats competing for the prize. 7 boats caught and released Marlin. First Place went to Fa La Me, releasing the first fish of the day at 8:55 AM. Second Place went to Goin Galt and Third Place to Indigo. The other participating boats were: Marlin Prince, Therapy, Gulf Rascal, Viva La Vida, Freebie, Reel Tight, and Cascadura. Proceeds from the 2014 Virgin Island Billfish Tournament for Haiti assisted Pere Basile Moreau Secondary School with the purchase of technology and computer infrastructure and an exciting digital curriculum pilot, that will allow students to work at their own pace and teachers to have better data on student performance. Holy Cross Missions plans to study this pilot and see if it might be a replicable program in other Holy Cross schools in Haiti.

ST. THOMAS - After two days of competition and several fish seen, caught, and released, the 2nd Annual Virgin Island Billfish Tournament for Haiti came to a close. The tournament ended with Marlin Prince, Captained by Eddie Morrison, winning 1st place with 1500 points. Tournament Runner-Up was Stalker with 1000 points. 3rd place was a tie between Therapy and Gulf Rascal. Therapy would win the tiebreaker on time.
A party was enjoyed on the Marlin Deck on the American Yacht Harbour in Red Hook. An open bar, prime rib dinner, and live music were enjoyed throughout the night. A successful award ceremony, raffle, and live auction capped the evening. Laughs and smiles filled the air as a great time was had for an even better cause.

ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I., August 16, 2013 - Free Spool, led by Captain Kevin Haddox and owner-angler Curt Richardson took first place in the 3rd Annual Virgin Island Billfish Tournament hosted by Caribbean Rose at American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook. The Betsy and Black Gold took second and third place. All three boats caught 5 blue marlin, with the Free Spool taking top honors based upon having the earliest catch and release time on the last fish.
The award dinner to honor the winners was held on the Marlin Deck at AYH. Over 100 sponsors, anglers, captains, mates, spectators and guests enjoyed the festivities emceed by Dano Gerritsen and music provided by Jason Jones and other local talent.
All winning boats generously donated their prize money back toward helping to re-build the Pere Basil Morau School in Port-au-Prince.
Caribbean Rose appreciates the time, money and effort contributed by all volunteers, donors and participants, which made this year’s tournament yet larger and more successful.
